Once lacquer starts lifting, water gets underneath and the corrosion spreads on its own. It is the most common reason older alloy wheels look tired even when they have never been kerbed. Wheel repairs at this stage mean taking the old finish right back and sealing the bare metal, rather than painting over something that carries on underneath.
Cracked wheels and buckles
A crack or a buckle is structural rather than cosmetic, and it is not worth guessing at from a description. The refurbishment process, stage by stage
Every wheel is prepared on the Ayce wheel system, developed specifically for alloys, so the surface is ready before any paint goes near it. Preparation is where a refurbishment is won or lost. Skip it and the finish lifts within a season.
From there the wheel is sprayed with UV primer filler, coated with primer, and the matching colour is applied. The final stage is a UV lacquer, for a tough and highly durable finish.
Because we work from a fixed unit in Mansfield rather than a driveway, alloy wheels go through each stage at the right pace instead of being rushed between coats. That is the practical difference between our wheel repair work and a quick respray done outdoors.

It is quoted per car, because the price depends on the wheel size, the finish and how much damage there is. Send us a photo of the wheels and we will come back to you with a figure.
Can you repair a badly kerbed alloy?
Usually, yes. Kerb damage is dealt with during preparation on the Ayce wheel system, before the wheel is primed and painted. If a wheel is cracked or buckled rather than scuffed, send a photo first so we can tell you what is realistic.
Do you refurbish a single wheel or the whole set?
Either. Plenty of the alloy wheel repairs we do are a single kerbed wheel, and the colour is matched so it does not stand out against the other three. Full sets are just as common, particularly where the lacquer has started to go on all four.
Will the refurbished wheel match my other wheels?
Yes. The colour is matched during the process, so a single refinished wheel is not left standing out against the rest of the set.
What is the final finish?
A UV lacquer over the colour coat, which is what makes the finish tough and durable rather than something that lifts after a few washes.
Do you come to me?
No. We are a fixed unit on Old Mill Lane Industrial Estate in Mansfield Woodhouse and the wheels come to us by appointment. We do not offer mobile wheel repairs.
Can you do the wheels at the same time as a valet?
Yes, and most people do. Mention it when you book so we can allow the time while the car is with us.
